A Place to Stay in Kaiteriteri, Nelson, New Zealand
My husband and I left for our a 3+ week epic adventure honeymoon to New Zealand just a little under a year ago. We started in Auckland, on the North Island, and made our way all the way down to the bottom tip of the South Island. In all that time we spent there and the many places we stayed, Maison Luc in Kaiteriteri may be the one place we want to return to the most.
Angie and Martin were wonderful hosts who even had an adorable congratulatory welcome sign up for us when we arrived. We stayed in the holiday cottage which is not only within walking distance of the beach, but happens to be surrounded by fruit trees! We had our pick of some delicious plums and lemons that happened to be in season while we stayed there. The cottage is very spacious and had a small kitchen so we could cook our own meals.
Kaiteriteri is a wonderful jumping off point to explore Abel Tasman National Park. We actually spent a couple of nights at a "luxury" type lodge inside the park but had a very poor experience with their restaurant which is the only place to eat inside the park. Next time we visit Kaiteriteri, and there will be a next time, we hope to stay at Maison Luc again and just take a water taxi each day to visit the park!
