Photo Essay: A Foggy Walk In Long Beach, Washington

A Foggy Walk in Long Beach Washington

My second trip to the Long Beach Peninsula was a short two-nighter for my day job. With a combination of a short time frame and working a minimum of ten hour days, I barely had time to enjoy the Pacific Coast. Predicting it would be just so, I booked my accommodation at the Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort, rewarded myself with a ocean view room, and made time for one walk out to see the sand and waves.

It was an eerily foggy couple of days on the ocean side of the peninsula and which made for both an intriguing and calming walk. At times it reminded me of the wild weather we encountered on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - where it looked as if we were walking on the moon.

If you ever find yourself headed out to the Long Beach Peninsula and in need of lodging - I would recommend the Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort over some of the other options in the area. It's nothing fancy, but it's reasonably priced and most all the rooms have full kitchens and ocean views. The extra bonus? There's a lovely path through the dunes to take you right out to the beach.
