Trip Video: Port Townsend, Washington

Looking Across Discovery Bay in Port Townsend, Washington

A big thank you to Jennifer and Jeff of Chevy Chase Beach Cabins for helping make this trip possible by comping our stay in exchange for sharing our experience with you here on the blog.

I've heard fantastic things about Port Townsend ever since moving to Seattle almost five years ago. Everything from the cute town to the great adventures to be had at Fort Worden State Park - where An Officer and A Gentleman was filmed. Now, having visited, I can say it was absolutely lovely - although, frankly I think that had a whole lot to do with where we stayed.

I've already shared the details of our stay at Chevy Chase Beach Cabins here, but suffice it to say I almost never wanted to leave the property. With the comfortable cabin, views of Discovery Bay, and a private beach - it's somewhere you can just arrive and chill for an entire weekend (or more). Although the weather on our October visit ranged from beautiful sunlight streaming through the clouds to pouring rain, we did manage to pull ourselves away to explore some of the old military structures in Fort Worden.

Located just a ferry ride and a short drive from Seattle, Port Townsend makes a great weekend getaway from city life. Follow along on our trip as we enjoy our stay at Chevy Chase Beach Cabins and do a little exploring of Fort Worden State Park.
