Trip Video: Long Beach Peninsula
Weekend getaways combined with filming a trip video may be my new favorite way to spend a weekend. Even though a long drive can be rough after working all day on Friday - it's wondrous to wake up somewhere new and have an entire day to explore and create. Just a few weeks ago, we woke up in Long Beach, Washington with a full day to spend exploring the Peninsula. There was only one "problem," it was a rather stormy day.
Not ones to be dictated to by weather, the three of us (my husband, pup, and I) set out for a day of exploration dressed rain gear from head to toe. Highlights of our day on the Long Beach Peninsula included driving the entire legal length of the "Longest Beach in the World"*, bald eagle spotting up and down the coastline, and running around in some absolutely crazy winds near the jetty in Cape Disappointment State Park. I hope this video of our experience conveys that no-matter the weather, fun, even outdoor fun, can still be had even on the stormiest of days on the Long Beach Peninsula.
*While Long Beach claims this honor, the internet tells me that Cox's Bazaar in Bangladesh is actually longer.
Practical Tips:
A section of the beach, between the Bolstad Beach Approach south and the Seaview Beach Approach, 38th Pl. in Seaview, is closed to vehicles from April 15th through Labor Day. So if you want to drive the beach, make sure to time your visit accordingly. (Updated)
Long Beach is incredibly dog friendly. You'll see dogs running around and exploring off leash - however it's not strictly legal. If you bring your dog - use your best judgement and make sure your pooch is on his/her best behavior.
Bring your Discover Pass. You'll need it to explore both State Parks on the ends of the Peninsula.
