Gluten Free In Seattle, Washington: Veggie Power
Thrive has been on my list for a while now to try out and I included it in my Seattle Summer Gluten Free Challenge to myself!
It was even better than I had hoped it would be! The whole place is gluten and dairy free, so the only item I kept my eyes out for was some of that pesky soy (which in small amounts doesn't seem to bother me too much, but I'll avoid it if I can). The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful too! To make things even better, they've got a small are in the cafe that sells different kinds of snacks, bulk grains, and a huge selection of raw cookbooks. I picked up some raw chocolate covered cherries and cinnamon glazed walnuts.
I ordered the Harmony Chai, a Dragon Roll, the Mighty Thai Salad, and the Key Lime Eclipse Pie; which were all completely delicious. I think I might start craving their Garlic Cilantro God Sauce that came with the Dragon Roll.
Thrive also offers a variety of other programs including immersion programs in raw food preparation and a wellness center. Someday when I have some extra time and extra funds, I would love to take advantage of some of their other programs, especially the raw food preparation.
I think eating more raw meals might be a goal for 2012, but I'll certainly try to get a head start this year!
Does anyone have any recommendations for raw food blogs or cookbooks?
