Ten Good Reads from May 2014
I've been traveling for three out of four weeks this month and I'll be the first to admit - I'm exhausted! From rural Maryland, to Washington DC, to my very first trip to Chicago, it's been a full month to say the least. Next month, I'm looking forward to three weeks at home before three trips in a row; an Oregon to California road trip, Alaska, and eastern Washington.
In other big news, you can now find me as @AdinaMarguerite around the web; Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Vimeo, VSCO Grid, & Bloglovin. It's a change I've been considering making for awhile now as I've moved more towards creating far less food content and far more travel content. Plus, I've always loved the combination of my first and middle names!
What I Was Reading & Watching Around The Web
1. Italy's Cinque Terre - Navigating the Five Villages | We Are Adventure
You learn something new everyday and honestly, I had no idea there were five villages that made up this Italian destination. Call me silly, especially since I've spent 9 years studying two different romance languages - but I just never thought much about the name! Simone offers a great profile of the five villages in this post.
2. For the Love and Beauty of Welsh Towns | Landlopers
All the pictures I see of Wales are just so enchanting! I can't wait to go someday!
3. Published: Ready, Set, Explore! | The Journal
Jen's photography alone is enough reason to pick up this awesome multimedia e-book. Between beautiful images and easy to follow advice, this book will have you ready to start packing your bags to head to the nearest national park.
4. {Greece}: The Island of Milos | Home Away From Home
I've only been to the mainland before, so someday I'd love to go to the Greek Islands - Jenna gives a great tour around Milos in this post.
5. Walking Tour of Rome | Travelshus
I love Rome and I love walking it. Annie's post gives a great overview of the best places to go!
6. Route 66: Gallup | Digital Nomad
Sweetest puppy ever.
I haven't been this excited and subsequently impressed about a new website launch in a long time. The honesty and quality behind each of their posts this month keeps me coming back each day.
My favorite travel video find this month, via a Travel Video Facebook group. I'm taking lots of tips from this for planning our epic Portugal trip video!
9. This Ladies Against Humanity Card
This may be one the most relatable #yesallwomen I've seen yet. I do this all the time, especially when I'm walking around in a new city at night.
10. Not Again | Gluten Free Girl
While waiting for my bag at SeaTac last Sunday, I saw a post in my personal Facebook feed which simply infuriated me. A friend of mine had liked a post by the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) entitled "Unless You Have Celiac Disease, Gluten Sensitivity Is All In Your Head." In this post, Shauna explains quite tactfully both the rather flawed study which prompted this ridiculous headline and the media circus influencing our society today.
Can't we all just agree to live and let live when it comes to what we determine our own bodies can and cannot tolerate?
