Gluten Free In Las Vegas, Nevada: Off the Strip
On this trip to Las Vegas, I tried to stay off the main part of the strip as much as possible. Since I was here for a work trip that was fairly easy. With the exception of one harrowing drive down half the strip at night, I managed to avoid it completely and still get out and do a couple of things.
As soon as I found out there was an In-N-Out Burger in Las Vegas, I knew I had to go. Being a California girl, it's not only my favorite but it's still safe for me to eat there! I always order a hamburger "protein style" with onions, no sauce, add ketchup. This way I get a burger wrapped in lettuce without any questionable sauce, as I seem to get differing answers on if it's gluten free or not. I just skip it and stick with the ketchup. Oh and did I mention the fries are gluten free too? The only thing they fry there is the fresh potatoes, so you never have to worry about cross contamination in the fryer.
A good old standby of mine, that always seems to do gluten free so very well with their special plates (if you dine in and order gluten free your plate should have a black line around it, signaling that it's a gluten free dish) and stickers. Now that I'm avoiding soy as well, the menu is a bit smaller for me. My soy free standby is the Changs Spicy Chicken with a side of steamed veggies and brown rice.
Okay, so this whole foods was amazing! They had seven different varieties of Laloo's goat milk ice cream - I so desperately miss the Cherries Tulierie Frozen Yogurt and want to try the Rumple Mint! Hopefully the Seattle & Lynnwood WFM's will start offering a greater variety soon. They also had a great selection of Bellwhether Farms sheep milk yogurt and the larger tubs of plain and vanilla. Yet another thing I hope to see in Seattle & Lynnwood WFM soon. And even better, they had Gluten Free Matzo! It's the best packaged gluten free cracker I've ever had, so good, I need more!
